Unless you've been living under a rock, then you know who Ezra Miller is. Even if you don't know anything about them or their films, you're bound to have seen their fashion. Born in 1992, Ezra Miller made their film debut in the 2008 film Afterschool. Their fame however began when they starred as Kevin Khatchadourian in the 2011 film, We Need To Talk About Kevin (which is a must-see if you haven’t already) and Patrick in The Perks of Being a Wallflower in 2012. As well as acting, Miller is also part of the "genderqueer ensemble" Sons of an Illustrious Father, providing vocals and drumming with Lilah Larson and Josh Aubin since 2011.

Recently starring as Credence Barebone in the 2016 film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and the sequel Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, released in 2018, Miller also portrays The Flash within the DC Comic universe. But this is a fashion blog after all, and what would a fashion blog be without a look at the personal style of one of the best fashion icons? Miller has always dressed differently, however it wasn't until the promotion for the Fantastic Beasts franchise that Miller's status as a fashion icon was realised.

Let's have a look at my favourite Ezra Miller looks so far. Try not to get too inspired.

On a personal note, Miller identifies as non-binary and queer, using they/them pronouns. Coming out as queer in 2012 in an interview with Out Magazine, Miller has become a role model, paving the way for the younger generations of kids figuring out their own identities. 'I was repeatedly assaulted as a young teenager, for being weird and gender ambiguous. They couldn't figure out if I was a boy or a girl, and they thought that was hilarious and also despicable,' says Miller.

Queer just means no, I don’t do that. I don’t identify as a man. I don’t identify as a woman. I barely identify as human.
— Ezra Miller

I'm going to be honest, I love Ezra Miller. I definitely look up to them as an individual, and I especially love their fashion. As a non-binary individual myself, I definitely look up to Miller as a non-binary individual, as they express their gender identity through their fashion. Their relationship with fashion; as a way to explore and experiment; is a relationship that I aspire to have.

Ezra Miller is a fashion icon of the 2010s. What makes a fashion icon though? Well, in my opinion, if they're breaking the rules, exploring their own identity through their fashion and wearing things never seen before; then they're a fashion icon. Madonna broke the rules of on-stage costuming, and as a result she’s now a fashion icon. Prince and David Bowie are fashion icons because they broke the rules of gender and fashion. There’s no point to fashion if you don’t push the boundaries. Fashion is a place to express yourself. Unlike fine art or music, you essentially don’t need skill or talent to express yourself with fashion. Don’t let things like gender or age stop you from experimenting and wearing whatever you want. If it makes you happy, wear it. If it makes you feel unique, wear it. Life’s too short. Wear it. And taking Ezra Miller as an example, there is nothing bad that can happen from breaking the fashion rules. You will inspire yourself and inspire others. Take this article and all the other articles praising Ezra’s fashion as evidence of this.

I’d just like to thank Ezra for their fashion experimentation. Being confident in their own self and dressing true to who they are and breaking the fashion rules in the process is incredibly inspiring for me and for other kids like me. Ezra Miller’s status as a fashion icon is more than a ‘boy’ wearing women’s clothes or one-of-a-kind outfits for red carpet events, its evidence of fashion being used as an amazing tools to express one’s incredibly unique identity. I’d also like mention Cody Fern, Tilda Swinton and Billy Porter for their own ground-breaking iconic fashion. God I love it so much.
